Whole School Syllabus Overview
In Key Stage One, R.E. is taught to individual year groups. In Key Stage Two, there is a two year cycle between the Year 3 and Year 4 syllabus for Class Three, and the Year 5 and Year 6 syllabus for Class Four. Each term, we have an RE theme day, where the children are taught in mixed aged house groups, and focus on an aspect of the church. These days are always a favourite with the children!
We visited St Bernadette's Relic in 2022. Built our own Grotto. We prepared stations in our hall throughout the year and planned our own Prayer and liturgy for the younger childrne in our school.
We were lucky enough to be visited by Mary, Joseph and the donkey today. All of the classes sang beautifully as Mary, Joseph and their donkey visited us on their journey. "And all the angels sang for him, the bells of heaven rang for him, for a boy was born, King of all the world." Class 4 wrote and sang their very own song too.
Class 4 produced some beautiful prayers during RE day celebrating Christ the King. In the background, they used watercolours to create beautiful, delicate patterns and we backed them on gold card.
Here is Class 1 enjoying our RE day on Christ the King. They all made a beautiful crown- don't they look amazing?
Class 2 enjoyed RE day on the Joyful mysteries today making their own Rosary Beads
We love to use drama to bring Bible stories to life and to aid understanding of scripture. Today we devised dramas in our woodland area around the parable of the lost sheep and reflected on our learning.
Some beautiful work created by a Class 3 pupil during an RE lesson for the Feast of Corpus Christi. (Online Learning)
Our online RE lessons are going really well and the children are engaging really well. Today we learnt about the Ascension. The children created some amazing artwork as part of the lesson. (May 2020 - online learning)
A wonderful RE lesson with Father Paul reflecting on the Presentation of the Lord.
Today in Class 2 we enjoyed bringing the Bible Story of Daniel and the Lion to life. We used sound effects and even had a lion mask to help us get into character! Afterwards we asked and answered thoughtful questions about the message in the bible story; the children showed great understanding.
We had a wonderful RE day today all about Lent. The children moved around the school in their Houses and had the opportunity to participate in activities in every class. (March 2018)
Today we learnt about Maundy Thursday in class during RE day. It was so lovely to learn with children from Class 2.
