2021-2022

October

Our children came together to support CAFOD and took part in their 'Eyes of the World' national assembly about climate change. The children also had a non-uniform day and came in something green to raise money for Cafod.

November

The whole school came together on 11th November to remember those who valiently gave their lives in wars all around the world. On behalf of the Royal British Leigion, we sold various items including poppies, pin badges and wristbands. All proceeds were donated straight back to the RBL to support the amazing work they do.

December

Our school Council came together and felt it was important to give something back to others, especially at Christmas. They organised a non-uniform day and asked our school family to bring in a small chocolate treat. Here our some of our school council members with Mrs Cush with your kind donations that were very gratefully received by the Furness Homeless Support Group in Barrow.

December

Puffin Class decided to make Christmas items to sell after school to raise money for charity. They raised an amazing £136.30 and after very careful consideration, the children have donated the money to our local Mountain Rescue team.

2020-2021

As part of our RE lessons, Class Puffin have been thinking a lot about refugees. We watched a short video produced by CAFOD and we wanted to do something to help. The children organised a clothing collection for a local charity who support refugees in the Furness area and abroad. The response from our school family was absolutely amazing! A big THANK YOU from Class Puffin for your support.

Harvest is very different this year for us all, but that doesn't stop the Our Lady's family coming together. We organised to have a collection point at school to coincide with CAFOD's Family Fast Day and the food donations were gratefully received by our very own Dalton Food Bank. This was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the volunteers have been working tirelessly since March to provide food parcels to local residents. It was great to meet Steve from the Dalton Community Action Group who collected the donations and we look forward to working together in the future.

September 2018- July 2020

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and to those who gave so generously to our Cafod Bring and Buy Sale on Friday 10th November. We had a wonderful morning with lots of visitors from the parish, raising around £330.

Shoebox Appeal

We would like to say a big thank you to our school family for the donations of shoe boxes. Mark and Sarah came to collect them and they will be sent to children who are less fortunate than we are. We will remember them in our prayers.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Each year Mrs Rattray and Year 6 organise a coffee morning to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer care.  This event is always very well supported by our school family and members of our Parish. This year we raised over £400. Class 3 also made some damson jam to sell.

Harvest

Each year the school and the parish come together for a harvest celebration. Our school families and parishioners give very generous donations of non-perishable goods for the local food bank and to make baskets for the local community.

Reverse Advent

Each year at Christmas the children have decided that they would like to give something back to the community. During Advent, the children are invited to bring a donation of non-perishable goods that we deliver to the local food bank. We also collect donations of food, toys and treats for our four legged friends and these are delivered to our local RSPCA cat shelter and Manchester Dogs Home.

Nativity Performances

Every Christmas at our Nativity Performance, we ask our wonderful school family to give a small donation to charity instead of purchasing  tickets. Our Sister school St Mary's do the same and we put the donations together. Our chosen charities have included St Mary's Hospice and the Furness Homeless Support Group.

Mary's Meals

As part of our RE day, Class 3 learned about the fabulous Mary's Meals charity and decided they would like to hold their own fundraiser to help others less fortunate than themselves. They made biscuits and cakes to sell at playtime and after school. The vision of Mary's Meals is to ensure that every child receives one daily nutritious meal in their place of education.

CAFOD

Cafod (Catholic Agency for Overseas Development) is a charity that is very close to our hearts. The children have organised various fundraisers for this charity including Bring and Buy sales and a sponsored water themed event. One of our pupils in Year 3 even swam a mile as part of this challenge and raised over £100.

Race for Life

2019 marked the first year Our Lady's children took part in the Race for Life raising nearly £250 for this amazing charity. The children had a brilliant afternoon and have asked if this can be a regular event in the school calendar.
