Walk or Wheel Once a Week
Our school is taking part in a highly effective and popular scheme funded and run by Cumbria County Council's Active Travel Team.
Walk or Wheel Once a Week (WOW) is a successful scheme which has been run for many years. It's a great way of keeping children active throughout the year. Walking and cycling to school is beneficial for children's health, it relieves traffic congestion and it's good for the environment!
You child will receive a certificate if they join the scheme and an 'Active Travel Passport' to be kept at school. If they manage to travel to and from school by walking, cycling or scooting at least once a week, every half term they will receive an attractive themed badge - there are 5 to collect until July 2016. This year the theme is 'Our Healthy Planet' and is based around sustainable energy, the Amazon Rainforest, British nature.
If your child would like to join our scheme, please either download the parental consent form below or call in and pick up a form from Miss Jones in the office.
Our children have been invited to take part in Cumbria's WOW Design a Badge competition. Please could all finished designs be returned no later than Wednesday 24th February 2016. All entries will be entered into our school competition and there will be a prize awarded to one child in each Key Stage during our VIP assembly the following Friday. Good luck!
Well done to all our children who entered our 'Design a Badge Competition. It was really hard to decide on the winners as all entries were fantastic! Well done to our two winners Grace and Arabella who won a Crayola set and drawing pad.
The Big Pedal - 18th - 29th April 2016
Thank you to all children and their families who joined in with 'The Big Pedal'. This was our first year entering the competition and we had a fantastic response with lots of extra children biking or scooting to school during these two weeks. We hope you enjoyed taking part and continue to walk, bike or scoot to school as much as you can. You are all superstars!
